چکیده

There are differences in the recording methods for cVEMP used across institutions. However, impact of head and body positions on results testing is yet to be determined patients with dysequilibrium. We assessed effects three recordings results, demonstrated advantages disadvantages each position. Three were recordings; A. supine/head rotated; B. semi-recumbent/head rotated elevated; C. elevated. The subjects present study 139 (9-91 years old) dysequilibrium various causation, 41 underwent two positions, a total 360 ears included. classified as normal, abnormal, indeterminate. rates indeterminate 50.6%, 35.0%, 14.4%, respectively. rate abnormal test increased increasing age. was 13.2%, 11.3%, 16.7% A, B, C, mean background sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM) electrical activity (SCM activity) smaller obtained position A than those other positions. positive correlation identified between age SCM raw p13-n23 complex amplitude (amplitude) larger B negative potentials recorded These suggest that C might less burdensome patients, but amplitudes smaller, there appeared higher likelihood complexes being overlooked. On hand, while more detection higher. As has different characteristics, selection measurement appropriate individual recommended. VEMP may useful detect bilateral otolith dysfunction cause chronic dizziness elderly.

Radiation Induced Demyelination in Cervical Spinal Cord of the Head and Neck Cancer Patients after Receiving Radiotherapy

Background: Cervical spinal cord is important and radiosensitive. It is the most critical organ for the head and neck (H&N;) cancer patients during radiotherapy. If the delivered dose to the cord is more than tolerance dose, demyelination may occur. Objective: Current study aims to analyze the post radiotherapy status of cord in the H&N; cancer patients.Material and Methods: In this a...

Cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in multiple sclerosis participants

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disease that affects brain and spinal cord. The infratentorial region contains the cerebellum and brainstem. Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) are short-latency myogenic responses. Cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) is a manifestation of vestibulocolic reflex and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic pote...
